What Is Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump Used For?
Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump is used to treat cold sores (herpes simplex virus) that appear on the lips and surrounding skin. It works best when applied at the very first warning signs such as tingling or itching and can also help speed up healing once the blister has formed.
Who Is Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump Suitable For?
Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump is suitable for children and adults of all ages.
Do not use this medicine if you:
- Are allergic to aciclovir, valaciclovir, propylene glycol or any other listed ingredient
Do not apply the cream:
- Inside the mouth or nose
- In the eyes
- On genital areas
- On skin infections other than cold sores
Speak to a healthcare professional before use if you:
- Have a weakened immune system
- Are unsure whether you have a cold sore
- Have very severe or frequently recurring cold sores
- Are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Are taking any other prescription or non-prescription medicines
How to Use Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump
- Wash your hands thoroughly before and after use.
- Apply at the first signs of tingling, itching or burning.
- Use the pump to apply enough cream to fully cover the affected area.
- Apply the cream 5 times daily, spacing doses evenly.
- Continue treatment for a full 4 days.
If the cold sore has not healed, treatment can be continued for up to 10 days.
Do not swallow the cream and do not use more than recommended.
Possible Side Effects of Zovirax Cold Sore Cream Pump
Common side effects:
- Mild burning or stinging after application
- Redness, itching, dryness or flaking of the skin
Uncommon side effects:
- Skin rashes, hives (urticaria) or weals
Rare side effects:
- Allergic reactions such as swelling of the lips, face or eyelids
Stop using and seek medical advice immediately if an allergic reaction occurs.
Warnings and Precautions
- Wash hands before and after each application.
- Avoid touching your eyes after application.
- If cream enters the eyes, rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Avoid touching or picking the cold sore.
- Do not share this treatment with other people.
- Contact a doctor if the cold sore becomes severe or lasts longer than 10 days.

- Do not refrigerate.
- Keep out of sight and reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date.
